Messy Room Fun!

The children from the 0-2 room often visit the messy room where they explore lots of different textures, equipment and objects using their senses. Luke, Chloe and Martin enjoyed visiting the messy room on Wednesday. They selected objects from the baskets and boxes and explored the play dough, the paints, the shredded paper tray and the sand tray.

Shakers!

We sang some of our favourite nursery rhymes and used the shakers to make some loud and quiet sounds. We sang 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star', 'Baa Baa Black Sheep', 'Wind The Bobbin Up' and 'Incy Wincy Spider'.

Emily used 2 shakers at the same time to make some loud noises.

Chloe chose to use a shaker with sand in before swapping to make some louder sounds using a shaker which had some pasta and glitter in.

Bailey waved and clapped her hands as we sang our songs and used the shakers.

Jacob shook his shaker fast and moved it up in the air and down to the ground.

Kailee smiled as she shook her green shaker fast!

Farm

Some children in the baby room have really taken an interest in farm animals recently. We have been practicing the noises of the animals and their names, such as 'moo' for the 'cows', 'oink oink' for the 'pigs', 'quack quack' for the ducks and 'neigh' for the horses.

Missy and Chloe explored the animals in the gel. They felt the texture of the gel with their fingers and whole hand. Chloe lifted her hand full of gel to show a familiar adult.

Missy saw the duck. 'Quack' she said.

Chloe rubbed her hands together to feel the gel.

Alicia rocked from side to side as the adult sang 'Baa Baa Black Sheep'. She smiled and clapped when the song had finished.

Row Row Row Your Boat

This week we have enjoyed singing the nursery rhyme Row Row Row Your Boat. We used the see saws to rock forwards and backwards and we changed some of the words in the rhyme too - such as screaming when we saw a crocodile!

'Row row' Jacob said as he rocked forwards and backwards on the crocodile see saw.

'Na na na na' Luke sang.

Chloe enjoyed rocking on the snail rocker before wanting to join her peers on the crocodile see saw.

Missy giggled as the see saw rocked and screamed loud when we saw a crocodile!

Foam and Sand play

Luke and Alicia enjoyed exploring the shaving foam in the standing tray. Luke clapped his hands and watched the foam fall off his hands. Alicia enjoyed putting both hands in the foam and feeling the texture on her fingers.

Alicia moved her hand from side to side to make marks. She smiled at a nearby adult and then made more marks using her fingers.

Luke covered his hands in the foam and smiled as he clapped his hands!

Chloe made marks in the sand using some lolly pop sticks and Numicon. She used both hands to prod the sticks deep into the tray.

Missy used the big shell to scoop up sand from the standing tray.

Martin watched as Missy poured sand into the funnel using the shell.

Missy collected some pieces of Numicon from the sand tray. She put her fingers through some of the holes and carried them away.

Alicia held 2 wooden shaped in her hands. She banged them on the side of the plastic standing tray to create some sounds.

Martin selected a shape from the tray and pressed it down into the sand to see what mark is made.
