Snack time!

We really enjoy snack time in the 0-2 room! We try a variety of foods including muffins, bagels, oranges, bananas, apples, pears, tomatoes, cucumber, breadsticks and rice cakes. Snack is a sociable time and we babble and talk to each other at the table. We use signs we are learning for the foods we try and more, please and thank you too. We count the number of cups and bowls we need, and some children use language such as '2 muffins' or 'a big cup'.

Snack is one of our favourite times of day!

Exploring the dough

Some of the children enjoyed making their own play dough alongside an adult. They explored the textures of the flour and water with their hands and fingers before pouring the items into a bowl ready to mix together. We all thought the flour was 'soft' and the water was 'cold'. One child asked what colour the flour was and what the dough smelt like. We were so proud once we'd made our dough and used movements such as poking, pinching, pressing and pulling to manipulate the dough.
'Can we get rolling pin?' One child asked. The children then used the wild animals to make prints in the dough. '1, 2'. One child commented as they looked at footprints they had made. 'Bang bang bang' another child said as they created a sound on the table with the rolling pin.
